Man wielding chain shot by police responding to crash in Buckingham Saturday afternoon

UPDATE, 7:06 p.m.: One individual is undergoing medical treatment for injuries suffered in the shooting, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office announced Saturday evening. There is no ongoing threat to the community. 

Neither the DA nor police confirmed if the suspect was killed in the shooting, as of 7:30 p.m. Saturday.

Bucks County detectives are investigating the officer-involved shooting. In accordance with established protocol, all police-involved shootings in Bucks County are investigated by county detectives and reviewed by the District Attorney. 

Additional details will be released upon the conclusion of the investigation or if significant information becomes available.

A man has been shot by Buckingham Township Police after he reportedly became combative using a chain as a weapon following an accident on the 4800 block of Redfield Road Saturday afternoon.

Around 3:37 p.m., police were called to an accident, but encountered a subject with a chain, according to reports from the scene.

Police ordered the man to stop, but police shot him at least two times in the chest, per reports.

Police requested additional EMS support, but the patient reportedly went into cardiac arrest in a Central Bucks EMS ambulance around 4:10 p.m., according to Montco/Bucks Incident Page on Facebook.

EMS personnel requested Temple University Hospital medical evacuation via helicopter for direct flight from Doylestown Hospital, but the helicopter was told to stand down.

There is a heavy police presence around Route 611 and E. Butler Avenue. Bucks County detectives are on scene.

Redfield Road is located in a residential neighborhood between Cold Spring Creamery and Landisville roads, behind Our Lady of Guadalupe Church at Durham Road/Route 413.

Reports from the scene show a white van with a rusted roof crashed into a parked pickup truck with a cargo trailer in a driveway of a home.
