Montco sausage and charcuterie experts celebrate grand opening Saturday with community party

Community invited to celebrate the grand opening of Soul Brothers Meats in North Wales Borough, where artisan sausage meets global flavors and locally-sourced and -produced meats

  • Business

This Saturday, the heartbeat of North Wales Borough will echo from East Walnut Street, where a long-anticipated grand opening promises flavor, music, family fun — and above all, “Sausage for the Soul.”

Soul Brothers Meats, the artisan sausage venture that began as a passion project nearly two decades ago, is officially opening the doors to its new production and retail facility. Tucked behind Ten7 Brewing Company, this purpose-built space marks a new era for the team of salumists who have quietly been building a devoted following, one handcrafted link at a time.

The celebration begins at noon with a guided tour of the facility, followed by a ribbon cutting at 12:30. The afternoon unfolds into a festival of live music, community activities, and — of course — a showcase of sausage mastery that stretches far beyond the expected.

A Legacy Stuffed with Flavor

Founded in 2003 by brothers Bob and Karl Zimmerman and their longtime friend Doug Perry, Soul Brothers Meats specializes in small-batch, handcrafted sausage made with locally sourced proteins and globally inspired recipes. Their creations span fresh, smoked, and dry varieties, drawing from culinary traditions as diverse as Italian, Korean, South African, and Greek.

Their new facility is designed for both retail and wholesale operations. While about three-quarters of the building is dedicated to sausage production, the remainder offers a clean and simple grab-and-go retail experience, where customers can pick up their favorite cuts and explore rotating specialty offerings.

There is no on-site cooking, but visitors will be greeted by the unmistakable aroma of spice and smoke as they step into the shop.

Through a glass window, patrons can even catch a glimpse of the meticulous, USDA-compliant sausage-making process—a detail that reflects the brand’s commitment to transparency and tradition.

A Grand Opening, Community Style

Soul Brothers Meats’ grand opening will be as much about celebrating community as it is about showcasing food. Beyond the facility tour and ribbon cutting, guests can enjoy:

  • Live performances by The Dishonest Fiddlers (1:00–2:30 p.m.) and Mike Greer & Co. (4:00–5:30 p.m.)
  • A cornhole tournament with prizes and local bragging rights
  • Bounce houses for kids of all sizes
  • Face painting, raffles, door prizes, and more

Food and beverages will be served by The Lansdale Cannoneers Club, Ten7 Brewing Company, and Commonwealth Selections, with sausage dishes prepped off-site and brought in hot, paired with local brews, wine, and refreshing non-alcoholic options.

Crafted for the Soul, Rooted in the Borough

The story of Soul Brothers Meats is one of patience, perseverance, and hometown pride. Over the past 22 years, the founders have made thousands of pounds of sausage—often bartered, gifted, or saved in freezers—while maintaining day jobs and holding tight to the idea that great food should be shared.

The company name itself pays homage to a cult-classic kung-fu flick, “Soul Brothers of Kung Fu,” that Bob, a Lansdale Catholic grad, and Doug loved as teenagers growing up in Lansdale. But the “soul” in the name isn’t just nostalgia. It’s a nod to the ethos behind everything they do.

Now, supported by BKZ Consulting Partners, the team is stepping into the commercial spotlight, ready to bring their brand of soulful sausage to customers across Pennsylvania and beyond.

North Wales was always going to be the place where it all began. For the Zimmermans, it is not just home — it is the soul behind the sausage. The familiar faces, the tight-knit community, and the deep roots in Montgomery County make this opening as much a family reunion as a business debut.
