The run is part of the opening ceremony of the Bucks County Special Olympics Spring Games

  • Public Safety

On Saturday, officers from Plumstead Township Police joined with New Britain Township Police and other officers from around Bucks County to help deliver the “Flame of Hope” to the opening ceremony of the Bucks County Special Olympics Spring Games during the Law Enforcement Torch Run.

The torch run began in Tyler State Park in Newtown Township, Bucks County and ended at Council Rock High School North on Swamp Road in Newtown Township, where the torch was handed off to a Special Olympics athlete.

New Britain Township Police said police officers carry the “Flame of Hope” to champion acceptance and inclusion in our communities.

“Their motto, ‘Let me win, but if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt,’ is something we can all live by,” New Britain Township Police said.

According to its website, the Torch Run is a global effort where police officers are “Guardians of the Flame,” and carry the flame across vast distances.
