Warminster Food Bank will cut the ribbon at its new location, 495 E. County Line Road in Warminster Township on Thursday, May 1 at 10 a.m.
The new site, situated in the Town & Country Shopping Center, is conveniently located, offers free parking, and with 1,778 square feet of space, the food bank will be able to better serve clients who are dealing with food insecurity, as well as accept of donations of nonperishable food items. There will be tours of the facility and refreshments will be provided. Donations of nonperishable food items will be accepted after the ribbon cutting.
While the new site has been operational since the beginning of April, the food bank board members and volunteers wanted to be situated in new space before hosting a formal ribbon cutting ceremony. The move was made possible by a grant from the John A. Powell Family Foundation of Naples, FL, which will allow the food bank to pay for the lease of the new space for five years, with an option to fund the lease for an additional five years. While this move was in the works for several months, it was hastened by the Warminster Heights board, which voted to discontinue the food bank’s use of their 75 Downey Drive space after 67 years.
“While it was difficult to leave the Downey Drive location, we needed a larger space to better serve our growing client base,” said Mike Cerino, executive director of Warminster Food Bank. “Thankfully, the grant from the John A. Powell Family Foundation was finalized at the right time and we were able to secure our new space. We are confident that this new location will give us the opportunity to further our mission of providing services to meet the needs of those experiencing food insecurity in our community.”
This event is co-hosted by The Warminster Rotary Club which supports the Warminster Food Bank. One of the missions of Rotary International is to address food insecurity on many levels, locally, regionally, nationally, and internationally by raising awareness and partnering with organizations who work tirelessly for the cause.
