A Warrington Township man pleaded guilty last month to misdemeanor corruption of minors for committing sexual offenses against a 9-year-old victim and was sentenced to a maximum of 23 months in Bucks County jail, with credit for time served since August.
Jose Armando Mestanza Ortiz, 46, who had been incarcerated at Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of $900,000 cash bail, had a felony charge of unlawful contact with a minor-sexual offenses withdrawn at a preliminary hearing in November 2024. He was also not prosecuted on a misdemeanor charge of indecent assault on a person less than 13 years of age, per court records.
Ortiz had been in Bucks County jail since Aug. 9, 2024, per court records. He is ordered not to have any contact with the victim as well. Furthermore, immediate parole was granted to an ICE detainer. This allows Ortiz to be released from detention for a temporary period, but he is still subject to immigration proceedings and potential deportation.
On July 27, 2024, Warrington Township Police responded to the 2200 block of Pileggi Road for a report of an indecent sexual assault on a minor, police said. An investigation uncovered that Mestanza Ortiz was temporarily staying at the home of a friend when the alleged assault occurred.
A warrant was issued for Mestanza Ortiz’s arrest and served on Aug. 9, where he was taken into custody, police said.
Ortiz was represented by Norristown defense attorney Brendan Campbell. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Brittney Kern.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
