A Bucks County man was allegedly high on fentanyl, alprazolam and methadone and illegally carrying a concealed 9mm handgun during a 3-vehicle crash on Swamp Road in New Britain Township in June 2024 and now awaits a preliminary hearing on a felony and numerous DUI of a controlled substance misdemeanors.

Randall Gerald Pfleegor III, 37, of 100 block of Gleniffer Hill Road, Richboro, was charged Aug. 22 by New Britain Township Police with the felony offense for allegedly carrying a concealed 9mm handgun while driving on June 10 at 10:39 a.m., according to charging documents.

Pfleegor is also charged with DUI of  a controlled substance, DUI of a controlled substance and Metabolite, DUI of a controlled substance that impairs ability, all misdemeanors, as well as summary offenses of failure to wear a seatbelt and failure to drive in a single lane, per court records. He is free on $10,000 unsecured bail.

On June 10, police were dispatched to the 5200 block of Swamp Road for a report of a traffic crash.

Upon arrival, police found three vehicles were involved in the crash, including a 2014 Subaru Outback, driven by Pfleegor, police allege. According to report, Pfleegor was trapped in his Subaru and had to be extricated by emergency personnel.

Pfleegor was injured in the crash and was taken to Grand View Hospital for evaluation and treatment, police said, and then taken to Philadelphia for more critical care.

Police said Pfleegor was driving westbound on Swamp Road/Route 313, and for unknown reasons at the time, went into the eastbound lane of travel, where his car hit a Peterbilt dump truck and then a Land Rover SUV.

Pfleegor’s car is seen on traffic surveillance cameras drifting within its lane of travel, and at times, cross over the double yellow and the white fog lines, police said.

After the events of the crash, and while EMS and fire personnel extricated Pfleegor from his car, he was found in possession of the Taurus 9mm, police said. The gun was tested and found to be operational.

Pennsylvania State Police records showed no valid license to carry or a valid sportsman’s firearm permit, police said.

During an inventory post-crash of Pfleegor’s car, police found a black and silver box with an empty bottle labeled with Pfleegor’s name, and had contained methadone, per the affidavit.

Blood evidence obtained from Grand View Hospital taken from the defendant was analyzed and showed his blood contained alprazolam, fentanyl, and methadone, police said.

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
