Plumstead Police welcomes two new officers to the force

Plumstead Township Police just strengthened its police force with a former SEPTA officer and a physical fitness award winner who is fluent in Arabic.

On Wednesday, before the Plumstead Township Board of Supervisors, Ahmed Elkadousy and Sean Cunningham were sworn in as full- time police officers with the Plumstead Township Police.

Elkadousy, police said, is a 2020 graduate of the Reading Police Academy, earning the academy’s Physical Fitness Award and has worked as a police officer prior to coming to Plumstead Township. 

He immigrated to the United States from Egypt when he was 13 years old and is fluent in Arabic. He had worked many years in his family’s restaurant, then pursued his interest in law enforcement. 

Elkadousy has attended Alvernia University, majoring in Criminal Justice. He has worked as a part-time officer with the Northampton Borough Police Department, and previously held full-time positions with the Upper Macungie Police Department and the Freemansburg Borough Police Department, police said.


    


Cunningham is a resident of Southampton Township, Bucks County and is a 2019 graduate of the Montgomery County Police Academy. Cunningham is also a graduate of the MaST Community Charter School in Philadelphia and a Community College of Philadelphia alum, majoring in Criminal Justice. 

After graduating from the police academy, Cunningham, per the department, began his law enforcement career with the SEPTA Transit Police Department as a full-time officer and has worked with SEPTA since 2019.

"He is coming to Plumstead Township with a solid law enforcement career and great recommendations from his co-workers," according to a report from the department. "We believe that both candidates backgrounds and experience will allow them to be an asset to the Plumstead Township Police Department and our community."
