America 250PA Bucks County Commission held its kickoff event Thursday night at Mercer Museum in Doylestown.
According to Bucks 250PA, to commemorate America’s 250th birthday, “Bucks 250 will endeavor to bring together diverse community stakeholders with the goal of inspiring and encouraging Bucks Countians to learn from our shared past, reflect on the present, and work towards a future that meets and expands upon the ideals of liberty, equality, and democracy established at the founding of our nation.”
Guest speakers and sponsors included Bucks County Commissioner Chairman Robert J. Harvie, Bucks County DAR representative Teresa V. Androutsos, Dana Barber of the Bucks County Free Library, Paul Bencivengo of Visit Bucks County, Kellee Blake of the National Archives, Bucks County Intermediate Unit’s Chad Evans, Historic Bristol Day representative Mary Gesualdi, Friends of Washington Crossing Park’s John Godzieba and Jennifer Martin, Pennsbury Manor’s Doug Miller, Linda Salley of the African-American Museum of Bucks County, Marjan Shirzad or the Mercer Museum & Fonthill Castle, and Christine Triantos of Peddler’s Village.
The evening began with the WCHP Fire and Drums welcoming guests to the museum, followed by mingling inside the museum with a soundtrack by Mandolin + Bucks County Boys.
Guests enjoyed drinks from the bar, food and exhibits, which included a Revolutionary War Camp reenactment and living history performances.
