A Philadelphia man with more than three prior convictions of retail theft is accused of stealing bottles of moisturizer, multiple nail clippers and two umbrellas from the Walgreens in Warrington Township.
Ronald Andrew Lawson, 70, of the 700 block of N. Marvine Street, Philadelphia, has been charged by police Sept. 3 with felony charges of retail theft and receiving stolen property, according to court records.
He remains at Bucks County jail in lieu of 10% of $20,000 cash bail, according to court records.
On Sept. 3, at 1:35 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting at the 2060 Street Road Walgreens in Warminster, per the complaint. The suspect was described as a Black male wearing a white shirt and dark pants, walking south on Easton Road, police said.
Police said Lawson matched the description of the suspect and was stopped at the intersection of Easton Road and Maple Avenue, carrying a white plastic bag.
Lawson told police he was released that day from Bucks County jail, per the affidavit.
Loss prevention confirmed Lawson as the suspect via video surveillance, which allegedly shows Lawson taking several items and placing them in his left pant leg to conceal the items.
Police said Lawson then left the store without paying.
The bag contained four Aveeno-brand bottles of moisturizer, a Walgreen’s-brand bottle of cocoa butter lotion, two black umbrellas, and four Walgreen’s-brand nail clippers, police said. The total value of the stolen items was $129.09, per the affidavit.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday at 8 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
