Administrators from the Pennridge School District recently got a firsthand experience of what it’s like for dozens of their youngest students on the first day of school.
Superintendent Angelo Berrios along with Assistant Superintendents Kathy Scheid and Brad Palmer and Director of Student Services Ernest Johnson boarded Maria Hough’s bus early Monday morning and greeted K-5 Diebler Elementary School students and their parents throughout East Rockhill Township.
“Riding along with Ms. Maria Hough on her Deibler Elementary School bus run was an energizing experience, made even more special by the presence of our cabinet members. Ms. Hough’s professionalism and dedication truly embody the spirit that galvanizes the Pennridge School District,” said Berrios. “Our heartfelt thanks go out to our amazing Transportation Department for ensuring our routes are organized and that our buses are well-maintained and operational.”
“The highlight of the day, of course, was seeing the excitement on the faces of our students,” Berrios continued. “Many thanks to everyone who welcomed our students upon arrival to make the school opening memorable. Here’s to wishing everyone a fantastic start to the school year!”
In total, the group made 21 stops full of high fives, smiles and waves before arriving at Deibler for a large group picture, said the district.
“It was the highlight of my day! The students on Maria’s bus run are so lucky to have a wonderful and caring adult like her to start and end their day,” said Scheid.
“I had a great experience, especially listening to Maria speak to the residents and children,” said Johnson. “She has a great relationship with the community, and it was my pleasure to witness it first-hand!”
The school district also sent out a sign for all families to use for their traditional “First Day” picture.
