Several police departments investigating theft, vandalism of political signs on private property

Police said anyone caught committing the crimes will be charged and prosecuted.

Three Bucks County police departments within the past week have issued stern warnings to the public regarding multiple investigations into reports of stolen political signs throughout their respective townships, which is considered vandalism.

Buckingham Township Police is involved in several investigations regarding theft of signs.

“We kindly ask that no matter your political views, please be respectful of other people's property. Vandalizing or stealing of political signs is a crime and actors will be prosecuted if found,” police said.

Over in Plumstead Township, police there admitted that officers have responded to a large number of calls regarding theft or damage of political signs over the past several weeks.

“As a reminder, we should all be respectful for everyone’s property. Officers will investigate and prosecute anyone that steals or damages political signs during this election season. Charges can range from trespassing to criminal mischief to theft,” Plumstead Police said.

In recent weeks, the Doylestown Township Police Department has received numerous reports concerning the theft or damage of political signs, as well as politically charged phrases written on township property.

“These actions are classified as crimes related to theft and criminal mischief. To address these issues, the Doylestown Township Police Department has increased patrols focused on these incidents, and anyone caught engaging in such activities will be investigated,” Doylestown Township Police said.
