Warrington Lions Club and Cowhey Family ShopRite of Warminster are teaming up for a Gratitude in Action Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the Warminster Food Bank.
The event will be held on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. rain or shine at Cowhey Family ShopRite in Warminster. Area residents are invited to participate, and shoppers will be provided with a list of items needed at the store’s entrances.
“This food drive is especially important since the holidays are challenging for families dealing with food insecurity. In addition to the usual expenses that need to be paid, there are expectations of a big holiday meal and presents in December,” said a Warminster Food Bank press release. “That means many families are faced with having to make difficult choices between food and other necessities. Items collected at this event will help to bridge the gap for these families. Donations of cash or ShopRite gift cards will also be accepted.”
Members of the Warrington Lions Club and volunteers from Warminster Food Bank will be on hand to work with ShopRite employees and customers to collect non-perishable food items. The items collected will be provided to people in need in local communities, said the release.
“I feel the simple act of feeding those in need can have a profound impact on someone’s life, said Deborah Cowhey, Owner and Operator, Cowhey Family ShopRite. “Giving is a powerful reminder that we are all interconnected. Giving helps to break down barriers and fosters humanity and kindness … it’s infectious!”
“We are most grateful for the generosity of the Cowhey family, the Lions Club and the community,” said Mike Cerino, executive director, Warminster Food Bank. “For those experiencing food insecurity, this can be a season of worry. After paying their bills and other expenses, money left over for groceries may be limited. We look forward to our Gratitude in Action Thanksgiving Food Drive so that we can ease the burden for those in our community when they need it the most.”
