Phoenixville Police Department confirmed Monday that one of their own was the motorcycle rider who was killed in an accident Sunday night.

Officer Arthur "Art" Scena IV was killed when his 2021 Harley-Davidson motorcycle was hit by a 2013 Kia during a crash in Warminster Township at 7:55 p.m. Sunday on West Street Road at St. David's Street. Scena joined the department in 2019.

NBC10 reported that GoFundMe organizer and close family friend Michael Gray said Scena was headed home from a funeral on Sunday for a fellow police officer who passed away from cancer.

Scena was born in Abington and raised in Elkins Park. He leaves behind a wife, Amanda, a young daughter, Reece, and a young stepdaughter, Riley.

A GoFundMe in his family's honor surpassed its $10,000 goal in under two hours. The goal was raised to $20,000, and that was met in a matter of hours. So, it was raised again, to $30,000, and that too was surpassed by end of the day Monday.

Now, the GoFundMe sits at about $34,000 toward its $40,000 goal as of 9 p.m. Monday.

"Art’s life was a testament to his unwavering commitment to his family and his community. He served as a Patrolman for Philadelphia Housing, Chester Police Department, and more recently, the residents of Phoenixville. His dedication extended beyond his professional life, as he was also a passionate member of the Bullet’s Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club, often coordinating memorial rides and benefits for those we lost in the law enforcement family," stated Michael Gray on the GoFundMe page on Monday. "We have been with Amanda all morning and afternoon, and she is at a loss for words to express the outpouring of support they have received."

"In times of need, we come together as one, to lift up those who are having trouble standing alone," Gray wrote.

Scena was a graduate of Cheltenham High School and Montgomery County Community College. He attended the Montgomery County Police Academy in 2010.

Phoenixville Police said Scena was employed as a correctional officer for the Montgomery County jail and he worked as a police officer for the Philadelphia Housing Authority and the Chester City Police Department.

Donations can be mailed to: Officer Arthur "Art" Scena Memorial Fund c/o Phoenixville Federal Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 1046, Kimberton, PA 19442.

Funeral arrangements and details could be released as early as Tuesday.

On Monday morning, Warminster Township Police said the Bucks County District Attorney’s Office Crash Team and their department continue to investigate details of how the accident occurred. Witnesses said that the motorcycle was hit as Scena attempted to make a left turn from Street Road. The scene was cleared by 2:30 a.m. Monday.

Warminster Police were assisted at the scene by the Bucks County DA Crash Team, Central Bucks EMS, and Warminster Fire.
