Midway Vol. Fire Co. Chief Tom Benscoter confirmed Monday that the fire that destroyed a 400-square-foot outbuilding in the woods behind a Buckingham Township home Saturday remains under investigation by the fire marshal.

The fire call came in at 9:56 p.m., for a fire in the woods behind 4913 Fawn Court. Upon arrival, Benscoter said there was a fully-involved outbuilding fire about 500 feet from the rear of the home, down a steep grade into the woods.

“Lots of hose and manual labor was needed to reach the fire,” Benscoter told Central Bucks Now. “Tankers were called in for water supply, since there was no hydrant system.”

According to a Midway Vol. Fire Co. Facebook post, firefighters approached the scene from Fawn Court and the Oliver Design property on Route 413 through the woods and across a creek, in the dark.

According to the chief, portable lights were needed as well to fight the fire.

There were no injuries and no road closures, Benscoter said. The scene was clear by midnight.

“We were very lucky that there was no wind to further spread fire through the woods. Units operated on scene for about two hours overhauling the building and extinguishing hot spots in the underbrush,” stated the post.

Midway was assisted at the scene by Warwick Fire Company, Doylestown Fire Company, Plumstead Fire Company, Point Pleasant Volunteer Fire Company, New Hope Eagle Fire Company, and Linghocken Fire Co.
