Christopher Brophy of Philadelphia, faces felony retail theft and receiving stolen property charges.
A distinctive arm tattoo led police to the arrest of a felony retail theft suspect accused of stealing more than $1,000 in tools and equipment from Home Depot in Warrington Township.
Christopher Robert Brophy, 46, of the 2900 block of Kensington Avenue, Philadelphia, faces charges of felony retail theft and receiving stolen property in the Aug. 29 incident, according to charging documents.
Brophy remains in Bucks County jail on 10% of $20,000 cash bail, per court documents.
On Aug. 29, police received a case file from a Home Depot Asset Protection Specialist regarding a shoplifting incident on Aug. 25 at 12:45 p.m. Police said a Caucasian male, wearing a gray shirt, light-colored jeans, and black Adidas hat, with right arm tattoos, including one of a skull on top of a star, is seen on surveillance video entering the store.
Minutes later, police allege the man is seen leaving the store via the garden center area pushing a full shopping cart containing a DeWalt 60V 1000, two DeWalt RPLC hoses, and a Champion 2500W generator, totaling $1,011.48.
Upper Moreland Police advised authorities that they were investigating the same suspect, identified as Brophy, for similar retail thefts, police said.
Police compared surveillance footage to criminal database photos of Brophy and matched the tattoos on Brophy to the suspect in the footage, police said.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 28 before Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
