Vernafern, a new restaurant in Doylestown, is set to open by early November in the Main Street Marketplace, across from Hops/Scotch.

Chef Justin McClain and Amanda Havier, general manager since 2017 at Hops/Scotch, are collaborating to create an upscale dining experience centered around local and sustainable ingredients, according to PhillyBurbs.

The restaurant, named after McClain's two grandmothers, Verna and Fern, will offer "approachable" fine dining that is not pretentious or expensive.

The menu will feature a seasonal menu of contemporary American dishes, including burgers, fresh pasta, cured meats, and homemade desserts, all made in-house from scratch, using as many local ingredients as possible, per the report.

Two concepts McClain is excited about are a Duck Dinner for Two and his Chef's Table experience, as reactions when the meals are served privately at peoples' homes will fit the vibe at Vernafern.

Havier also opened The Side Bar in August, offering unique cocktails and vegetarian comfort food.

The indoor dining and retail destination in Doylestown at 22 S. Main St., next to The Doylestown Bookshop, is home to various local businesses, including Spuntino Wood Fired Pizzeria, Olive Oil Etc., Cup & Cake Company, Lynda Berry Photography, Main Swing Golf, and Dept of Note.
