A new boss is in town.
On Tuesday night, Doylestown Township welcomed its new police chief with the swearing in of Chuck Zeigler, the third chief of police in the department’s history.
Zeigler was given the oath by Bucks County Common Pleas Judge Matthew D. Weintraub, where Zeigler swore to “enforce the law without consideration to a person’s race, color, sex, religious creed, sexual orientation, age, national origin, ancestry, handicap or disability.”
After his swearing in, Zeigler thanked the township Board of Supervisors for their support and appointing him chief of police.
He thanked the local law enforcement agencies “for showing support to me and the Doylestown Township Police Department.”
“If there is anything my department or I can do to help you and your agency, please do not hesitate to reach out,” Zeigler said. “We all need to work together to achieve our common goals.”
Zeigler also thanked his officers for their unwavering support.
“There is a lot of work to do and I’m happy to work with each and every one of you to get that done,” he said.
Furthermore, Zeigler recognized former police chiefs Steve White and Dean Logan for their foundation over the past 25 years.
“I’m thankful for the guidance you provided. You have prepared me well,” he said. “Thank you for the never-ending support you’ve shown me for my entire career. I would not be in this position without you.”
Zeigler said, for the residents, the police department is there for them.
“We are your officers,” he said. “If you need any assistance or questions or guidance on anything, we will do everything we can to provide you with the best service possible.”
Supervisors Chair Jennifer Herring said Doylestown was a lucky municipality due to its current and former police chiefs.
