The call has been put out for private sponsors, local businesses, and residents to donate to the SHOP WITH A COP event this winter for Plumstead Township Police.

The national program pairs police officers with children to afford them a better Christmas.

According to police, the program is geared toward Plumstead Township children at the elementary school level.

“These children are faced with life challenges such as a parent losing a job, homelessness, military deployment, economic shortcomings, and other hardships,” police said.

Plumstead Township Police SHOP WITH A COP is funded through donations in the Central Bucks community.

This year, donations are due by Nov. 29, 2024.

Donor levels include Dancer at $25, Cupid at $50, Donner at $100, Comet at $200 and Dasher at $300. Donors are welcome to give a different amount.

Each child, police said, is allotted a monetary gift card to purchase gifts for themselves and family members to allow for an enjoyable holiday.

At present, the Plumstead Police program has grown from 75 children in 2017 to 150 children in 2022 and 2023.

Checks can be made payable to Plumstead Township, with a Shop With a Cop notation. Mail donations to ATTN: Sarah Ferri at Plumstead Township, 5186 Stump Road, Pipersville PA 18947.

Those interested in donating can call 215-766-8741, ext. 142, or email [email protected].
