The Bucks County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warrant for the arrest of a Bronx, New York man for failure to appear at a Sept. 27 formal arraignment in Bucks County Common Pleas Court on accusations of stealing more than $4,000 in sunglasses from a Warrington business.
Jonaycker Eduardo Degouveia-Suarez, 25, has several active warrants from numerous jurisdictions lodged against him, per court records. He was arrested in Bergen County, NJ in August on one such warrant and extradited to Warrington Township on July 30 to answer for felony retail theft and receiving stolen property charges related to $4,487 in sunglasses stolen from Sunglass Hut, police said.
According to court documents, Degouveia-Suarez’s bail was initially set at 10% of $150,000 cash by the Magisterial District Court on July 30, then changed to 10% of $15,000 cash by the district court. Bail was decreased by the Bucks County Common Pleas Court to 10% of $30,000 cash on Aug. 2, and Degouveia-Suarez posted $3,000 cash bail on Sept. 6, per court documents.
A pre-trial conference/guilty plea is scheduled for Oct. 29 at 9 a.m. before Common Pleas President Judge Raymond F. McHugh.
On June 1, police responded to the 1548 Main Street business for a report of a retail theft of sunglasses, police said.
Staff told police that Degouveia-Suarez and another woman entered the store and went to the expensive sunglasses area, police said. Degouveia-Suarez selected $4,487 worth of sunglasses and then concealed them in a bag before exiting the store without paying, per the complaint.
