Car hits valve to underground propane tank Saturday night, HAZMAT responds

The incident caused leakage from a 1,500-gallon tank, authorities said

A car ran hit a valve box to an underground propane tank outside a residence in a cul-de-sac on the 80th block of West Sandy Ridge Road shortly after 9 p.m. in Doylestown Township

The accident caused leakage from the 1,500-gallon tank, according to Bucks County dispatch reports. The Bucks County Hazardous Incident Response Team was called to the scene. 

The gas was shut down by 9:16 p.m. and the meter was checked and assessed by professionals.

Doylestown Fire Co. and Chalfont Fire Co. responded to the scene. 

The scene was under control by 9:20 p.m.
