A Philadelphia man has been hit with felony shoplifting charges for stealing almost $200 worth of merchandise from TJ Maxx, authorities allege.
Ramon Antonio Lugo, 48, was one of two suspicious men in the area of Staples on Oct. 13 in Warrington Township, police said. Both men were seen entering a car and then driving to the Creekview Shoppig Center at 425 Easton Road, per the complaint. There, they continued to act suspiciously, visiting different stores before leaving about an hour later, police said.
An officer followed the car, which committed several traffic violations and was stopped on Easton Road, according to police. A search of the car revealed a large quantity of stolen merchandise from multiple locations, Warrington Police said. Lugo stole $194.63 worth of merchandise from the retailer, according to authorities.
One month after charges were filed, Lugo was arrested and arraigned on Saturday night, per court records. He was remanded to Bucks County jail on 10% of $50,000 cash bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for Nov. 25 at 9 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman.
