A fourth-grade Central Bucks School District teacher was honored by the school board Tuesday night for saving the life of a student.
"Last week, one of our teachers at Cold Spring Elementary, Katie Cuerou, noticed that one of her students was choking during snack time," said Superintendent Dr. Steven Yanni during the recognition.
"She immediately sprung into action and administered the Heimlich Maneuver and did everything she could to make sure her student was safe and prevented further choking," Yanni said.
Yanni presented Cuerou with a bouquet of flowers.
"Typically, when we think about teachers, we think of reading, writing and arithmetic, and all that goes on," he said. "This is truly one of our heroic teachers that saved one of our students from a very dangerous situation."
