On Pattison Picks: Can Eagles Stay Hot Against Struggling Cowboys?

Say what you will about Dak Prescott, but since becoming the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in 2016, he has a 9-4 record against the Eagles.

There won't be the chance for Prescott to add a 10th win against the Eagles Sunday, as he sustained a right hamstring tendon avulsion last week. As NFL Media's Tom Pelissero and Ian Rapoport reported, the injury — which is the hamstring being partially off the bone — appears likely to lead to season-ending surgery.

So not only will the Eagles not see Prescott Sunday at AT&T Stadium, but probably not when the two teams meet at Lincoln Financial Field in Week 17 either.

First things first, the Eagles will look for their fifth win in a row Sunday afternoon in Dallas. Cooper Rush has proven to be a capable backup, but he's inheriting a 3-5 team that looked underwhelming even when their franchise quarterback was healthy. The Eagles are 7 1/2-point road favorites over the Cowboys Sunday.

Here's what our On Pattison staffers believe will happen in the Week 10 tilt.

Tim Kelly

Score: Eagles 30, Cowboys 13

Game MVP: Saquon Barkley

Saquon Barkley is playing at a level that's made him one of the odds-on favorites for the Offensive Player of the Year Award this season. Expect him to go over 1,000 rushing yards on the season Sunday afternoon — he only needs 75 rushing yards to do so — as the Eagles win their fifth in a row.

And we're only another excellent Barkley performance or two away from having the MVP discussion.

Anthony SanFilippo

Score: Eagles 31, Cowboys 19

Game MVP: Jalen Carter

Look, the Cowboys stink, and it’s only going to be worse with Cooper Rush in place of Dak Prescott. I’m only giving the Cowboys 19 because Brandon Aubrey is the best kicker in the NFL and can make kicks from 68 yards in. So, Rush doesn’t have to do a lot for the Cowboys to get points.

But the Eagles defense continues its renaissance against unimpressive teams and stymies Dallas repeatedly.

I picked Jalen Carter to be most disruptive on the defensive side, but really, there’s a half dozen guys who can bury the ‘Boys.

Enjoy this one, friends. Because Thursday won’t be nearly as easy.

John Foley

Score: Eagles 27, Cowboys 24

Game MVP: Saquon Barkley

It’s hard to see how Dallas can slow Saquon Barkley down. He won’t need any backwards hurdles this week. Running straight ahead will work just fine.

But the Birds have a fascinating ability to let teams hang around (see: Jaguars, Jacksonville.) They also have a long, storied history of making backup quarterbacks look like superstars.

Factor in a good old-fashioned division rivalry, and it’s a recipe for a closer game than many are expecting.

Austin Krell

Score: Eagles 35, Cowboys 7

Game MVP: Jalen Hurts

Dak was onto something when he said his team stinks. They do, indeed, smell like a high school locker room. And, they’re onto their backup quarterback now in. You know what that means, folks — three-and-outs aplenty. Then, Jerruh is going on the radio to threaten some hosts for not lobbing softballs at him.
