Perkasie Borough Police are warning people of puffers this winter.

No, not the fish, but rather cars that are left running, unattended and unlocked, which are a target for car thieves, police said.

Perkasie Police said there is one phrase the department hears often: "I was only away from my car for a minute!"

"Whether you are just running in to grab a cup of coffee or warming up the car before leaving for work, it only takes seconds to steal an unattended vehicle," police said. "Please don't leave your car to warm up alone unless you have a remote-start function that keeps the vehicle locked and safe."

Perkasie Police advised to lock the car, take the keys, and hide your items in your car this winter.

"It's common sense, but not common practice," police said. "As the weather turns, don't be left out in the cold."
