Indian Creek Foundation hosted its 33rd annual Roll Stroll & Run event on Saturday, June 15. The fundraiser, which has grown significantly from its first few years as a bicycling event, raised more than $50,000 for the organization. The proceeds will be used for Residential Home improvements and maintenance across the agency’s 25 properties.

More than 250 people participated in the Roll Stroll & Run this year, including nearly 70 timed 5k runners, more than 85 cyclists, more than 70 walkers, and many who came to enjoy the family carnival and lunch. The event was also supported by more than 100 volunteers, including those who helped during the preceding week to assemble participant packets and prepare the campus.

“Even though we’ve been running this event for over 30 years, it always takes a lot of planning and organizing,” said Beth Healy, special events and community relations coordinator. “We work on this for several months in advance to make sure that it will run smoothly and be successful. We’re thrilled that so many participants and volunteers return year after year. That helps us know that we’re still doing a good job of keeping folks interested.”

The 62-mile bicycle riders were the first to set out on their course at about 7 a,m. Other participants started arriving over the next two hours to head out on their bike rides or to get ready for the timed 5k race and self-directed 1k or 5k walks. The Roll Stroll & Run is a distinctive event in that participants can choose several different ways to take part.

“The versatility of this event is a lot like the versatility of our entire organization,” shared Brett Wells, director of development. “This fundraiser offers many ways to participate, just like our programs work to meet many different needs in the fields of Behavioral Health, Residential, and Day Services. It’s also just like our many different employment options. We really strive to work with everyone on an individual level so that we can engage with them in the best way possible.”

The 2024 Roll Stroll & Run featured a picnic lunch, moon bounce, face painting, balloon animals, beer garden, and music entertainment. Over 45 sponsors contributed to the day’s success, and many local businesses participated with their food, products, or services.
