A Philadelphia woman has been arrested and charged and another woman remains at large in a case involving the theft of a woman’s wallet at Gran Rodeo in Warrington and then using the stolen credit cards to rack up more than $10,000 in purchases.
Tiera Shaunici Anderson, 36, has been charged with two felony counts each of retail theft, receiving stolen property, and access device fraud, and two misdemeanor counts each of theft by unlawful taking and access device fraud, from the May 7 incident, police said.
Tracey Michelle Gilbert, 54, of Philadelphia, has an active warrant for her arrest, police said.
On May 7, Warrington Township Police responded to the 1512 Main Street restaurant for a report of a stolen wallet.
The victim told police she was sitting at the bar and had her purse on the back of her chair. A short time later, Anderson and Gilbert walked up and stood behind the victim and looked at the menu, police said.
Anderson and Gilbert then removed the victim’s wallet from her purse and left the restaurant, police said. The wallet contained numerous credit cards, money and identification.
The credit cards wee used at numerous stores in the area for more than $10,000 in purchase, police allege.
A warrant was issued for the two women. Anderson was arrested Nov. 12 while in Philadelphia, police said on Friday, and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman, who set bail at 10% of $50,000 cash, police said.
According to court records, Anderson was sentenced to three to 23 months in Berks County jail and one year probation for pleading guilty to felony retail theft in August 2022. She was sentenced in May 2022 in Chester County Common Pleas court to 79 days to 23 months in jail for retail theft, and three years’ probation for felony receiving stolen property, per court records.
In September 2022, she was sente4nced to 143 days to one year in jail and one year probation for felony access device fraud, per court documents.
She currently has at least 12 active cases related to retail theft and access device fraud in Philadelphia, Montgomery and Chester counties, per court records.
