A Warminster Township woman was arrested and charged Friday with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and endangering the welfare of children after she allegedly stabbed a woman who was protecting the intended target of the attack.
Rebecca Ann Watson, 46, of the 300 block of East County Line Road, was charged by Warminster authorities with the aforementioned felonies in the Friday morning incident, as well as aggravated assault with serious bodily injury and two counts of attempted aggravated assault, and misdemeanor charges of terroristic threats with violence, simple assault with a deadly weapon, recklessly endangering another person, and possessing an instrument of crime, according to charging documents.
Police allege a two-year-old child was present during the crime.
Police responded to an apartment on the 300 block of East County Line Road at 11:01 a.m. for a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, the 19-year-old victim told police they were stabbed by Watson, police said.
The victim suffered a 2-inch stab wound to the left arm, police said. The wounds was suffered while the victim was attempting to save a 49-year-old man, who was Watson’s intend target, police allege.
Police said Watson was sitting on the couch, when she suddenly got up and said, “I’m going to kill you today.”
Watson then allegedly pulled out a knife and went to the back bedroom, where she attempted to stab the man. Police said the victim got in between them, and that is when Watson stabbed the victim in the arm.
After stabbing the victim, Watson fled the apartment, police said. Watson was later found during a search of the basement laundry room, hiding in a corner, according to the affidavit.
While in custody, and without prompting by authorities, Watson said she was trying to stab the man and wanted to kill him, per the complaint.
Investigators recovered a knife at the scene, according to the affidavit.
The victim was taken by Central Bucks EMS from Warminster to Holy Redeemer Hospital for treatment of injuries, police said.
Watson was arraigned and sent to Bucks County jail in lieu of 10% of $200,000 cash bail, according to court records. A preliminary hearing is set for Feb. 3 at 1:45 p.m. before Magisterial District Judge Christopher E. O’Neill.
