A Warrington man has been accused by authorities of stealing his own neighbors' packages and deliveries at the Westminster Apartments on the 600 block of Valley Road and faces 28 charges, including 22 felonies.
Christopher Michael Scott, 40, turned himself in to police on an active warrant, charged with three felony counts each of identity theft and conspiracy to commit identity theft, and eight felony counts each of receiving stolen property and conspiracy to receive stolen property, police said. In addition, he faces misdemeanor charges of possessing an instrument of crime, drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia, per court records.
Warrington Township Police began investigating several reports of theft of packages from the apartment complex; it had two open investigations of theft of packages from nearby buildings on Westminster Apartments property, police said.
Management at the complex provided a list of complaints from residents who have reported said thefts, police said. Residents saw video footage and identified one of the suspects as Scott and another resident who lives in Building D, police allege.
On Nov. 30, at 2:25 p.m., police conducted surveillance on Building D of the apartment complex, according to authorities. Officers saw a postal employee with the USPS and a male employee with Amazon delivery services enter the building and deliver mail and packages in the lobby, police said.
At 3 p.m., after the Amazon deliveryman left, police saw and identified suspects removing the packages, police said.
Scott was jailed at Bucks County jail Monday on 10% of $25,000 cash bail and a probation violation detainer, according to court records.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 13 at 9 a.m. before Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
