A female inmate pleaded guilty last month to a felony charge of escape and was sentenced to 18 months' probation, effective Nov. 21, according to court records.
Charges of flight to avoid trial and evading arrest on foot were dismissed at the guilty plea hearing against Natalya Wilson, 26. Wilson was charged Sept. 4 by the Bucks County Department of Corrections after she attempted to escape from a vehicle transporting her from Doylestown Hospital to the Bucks County.
A resisting arrest charge was dismissed at a preliminary hearing.
On Aug. 28, at 2:20 p.m., authorities said in an affidavit that two corrections officers were assigned to hospital watch for Wilson and were taking her from the emergency room back to Bucks County Correctional Facility.
While stopped at the red light on Route 611 southbound at Edison Furlong Road, Wilson escaped custody from the driver’s side rear of the transport vehicle, police said. Wilson was able to run a short distance, before being taken back into custody and placed back into the vehicle, per the complaint.
Wilson was returned to the jail without further incident and without injuries, police said.
Both corrections officers told the DOC they heard the sound of metal clinking while stopped for the signal at Route 611 and Edison Furlong Road, per the affidavit. They both saw Wilson exit the back of the car and run around the back of the vehicle, police said. She headed toward a parking lot, but she fell to the ground after tripping on her leg shackles, police said.
On Aug. 29, authorities interviewed Wilson, who, after signing acknowledgement of her Miranda rights, said, “I f---ed up,” per the affidavit.
Police said Wilson did not want the officers to get into trouble because they treated her well.
Wilson told police that when the transport vehicle came to a stop, she slipped both hands out of her handcuffs and pressed the window button and the window went down, police said. With her hands free from the cuffs, she got out the window and ran a short distance, before tripping over leg shackles, per the report.
Wilson, police allege, did not have a plan, but just wanted to get out of the car.
All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
