Montgomery County District Attorney Kevin R. Steele and the Lower Merion Police Department’s Superintendent Andrew Block have announced the arrest of one man tied to the Dec. 8 home invasion homicide.

Charles Fulforth, 41, of Jenkintown, has been charged with second degree murder, robbery, and related charges in connection with the Lower Merion incident, which took place Sunday in the unit block of Meredith Road in the Wynnewood section of Lower Merion Township.

Police said Fulforth is charged with the death of Andrew Gaudio, 25, the son of the homeowners' on Meredith. According to police, his mother, Bernadette, 61, was also shot during the invasion and is listed in critical condition as a result of in the incident. Gaudio was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The announcement was released by the two offices at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday during a live press conference.

"We know they broke into the house, we know they went upstairs, we know they shot one individual and murdered another," Steele said.

A determination as to "why," Steele said, may never be known.

"As you know, in some cases, the 'why' isn't out there. We're dealing with some really terrible people at this point that committed an atrocious crime," he said.

(Roberts) is dangerous," he said. "Anybody that would be involved in something like this should be behind bars."

Police were able to capture a dash-cam image of a white Hyundai Azera involved in the incident. That car's registration, police said, led them to a home on Sansom Street in Philadephia, where crucial information was gathered. However, the man photographed remains at large.

As previously reported, that man, Kelvin Roberts, 42, of Philadelphia, was also wanted in connection to this crime, the DA said in a release on Monday.

An initial call to the public on Sunday asked all to be on the lookout for a stolen green Jeep vehicle, as well as a white sedan with handicapped Pennsylvania tags, related to the incident. The Jeep was later recovered in West Philadelphia, police said, near the Sansom Street home.

At this time, other news outlets have stated that Roberts continues to be wanted and is considered armed and dangerous, and that the US Marshals have joined the search for him. Roberts, according to court documents, has a plethora of other criminal cases dating back to 2003 in Montgomery County Courts.

The DA and police announced today that Fulforth was with Roberts in the Sansom Street home, as well as during the invasion in Lower Merion, then separating and leaving in the two separate cars. According to the public press conference, Fulforth was apprehended in a "crowded apartment building" and authorities "anticipate more charges" pending their findings.

The DA commended the Abington Police who were able to take the wanted man into custody carefully.

"We have not indicated a shooter," said Steele. "Right now, there is more than one shooter."

The shooting did take place, the authorities said, in a bedroom of the home.

Authorities said that Fulforth is to be arraigned shortly, with no bail set for his release. He faces a potential life sentence, according to the press release, and the case remains under investigation.
