  • Things To Do

Events abound as the holiday season is well underway, and one need not travel into the city to enjoy amazing, world-class shows, events, and fun. This Week Now presents events from Monday, Dec. 9 to 15 in and around the Philadelphia Suburbs.

Robotics Adventure! by the Brooklyn Robot Foundry

Children ages 6 to 12 are invited to the Wissahickon Valley Public Library on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 6 p.m. for the Brooklyn Robot Foundry’s Robotics Adventure! The hour-long class will provide robot-building skills and instruction, and each child will be able to work on and take home their own robot! The class is led by experts from the Foundry to encourage imaginations. Part creativity, part engineering, the class is all fun. Space is limited, and registration is required. Email [email protected] to provide the age and grade level of the child you’d like to enroll. For more information, visit the Event Brite listing here.

Pajama Party: Parent Survival Night

Everyone deserves a break, and parents of young children may be one of the most deserving. Thankfully, The Little Gym in Abington is offering a night off with its Parent Survival Night. From 5:15 to 8:15 on Saturday, Dec. 14, parents can bring PJ-wearing tots for a night of games, challenges, and dances. Those ages from 3 to 12 are welcome to attend. The cost is $50. Take some time to shop alone, get in a date night, or sit at home and enjoy some quiet! To register, visit the site here.

Ugly Sweater Party

Towey’s Annual Holiday Party is slated for Sunday, Dec. 15 from 1 to 7 p.m. at its location, 117 S. York Road in Hatboro. The party is a potluck, so bring a dish to share. Food, drinks, and music will be provided. A holiday costume or ugly sweater is encouraged. Towey’s Hatboro Tavern can be reached at 215-394-8806 or email [email protected].

Brunch with Santa

There are two opportunities to have brunch with Big Red on Saturday. The first is at Christ United Methodist Church at 1020 S. Valley Forge Road, Towamencin (GPS: Lansdale) from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Dec. 14, at its annual Santa Breakfast. The public is invited to feast on pancakes, sausage and hot chocolate – and a gluten free option will be available. The cost will be $3 for adults, $2 for children under 12 (children 2 and under are free) with a maximum of $10 per family. Tickets available at the door.

The second one, also on Dec. 14, is at Morningside House of Towamencin, 900 Towamencin Avenue, Lansdale at 11 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to revel in the magic of the season. There are complimentary professional pictures with Santa and a delicious holiday brunch. Reservations are required as seating is limited. Please contact [email protected] to reserve a spot.

Ballet Arts of Bucks County presents its annual holiday dance performance of Winter Wonderland on Saturday from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the university’s Life Sciences Auditorium. For more information including our student casting for each performance, visit balletarts.com.

Illuminaire Nights in Skippack

Skippack Village shops stay open until 8 p.m. Friday for the village’s annual Illuminaire Night. Many of the shops and restaurants throughout the Village will be open late.

Delco Fare and Flair Night

Local food trucks, vendors, and entertainers will help make the holidays bright from 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, and Sunday, Dec. 15 at Rose Tree Park, 1671 N Providence Road, Media. While you are there, enjoy the Festival of Lights, with dozens of illuminated trees and other light displays along a walking path through the part. Admission and parking are free. Dogs on leash are welcome.
