New Britain Township Police have no problem with people being jolly this Christmas season, be it shopping, partaking in holiday outings, or partying with friends and coworkers.
They do have a problem with imbibers of holiday spirits (and other intoxicants) getting behind the wheel.
Thus, police will be conducting roving DUI patrols in the township now until the new year.
The effort is being done to cut down on drunk drivers who may ruin the festive time of year.
Police announced Thursday that motorists should remain sober while driving to and from festivities.
“Protect yourself, your loved-ones and those sharing the road with you by making the right decision to drive sober. And we shouldn't have to remind you, but we will, that impaired driving is not just from alcohol: Some prescription medications or over-the-counter drugs may interfere with driving,” police said.
Although prescribed medications and medicinal marijuana use is legal, DUI of these substances is illegal, police said.
