Man charged with felonies for not returning car he borrowed, police say

The defendant was nabbed on Monday by Philadelphia Police and extradited back to Perkasie.

 A man with no fixed address has been arrested and charged by Perkasie Borough Police with felony theft by unlawful taking, felony receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor authorized use of a motor vehicle after being accused of not returning a car that was loaned to him.

Benjamin Erans-Luna, 26, remains in Bucks County jail as of Monday on 10% of $50,000 cash bail, per court records.

Erans-Luna, per court records, was also arrested and charged by Philadelphia Police on Monday on receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle charges.

Police received a report on Aug. 13 that Erans-Luna failed to return a Toyota Corolla that was leant to him on July 31, according to the complaint.

A stolen vehicle report and an arrest warrant were approved by Magisterial District Judge Mark D. Douple on Friday, police said.

On Monday, police were informed that the vehicle was recovered with Erans-Luna being taken into custody in Philadelphia, police said.

Perkasie Police went to Philadelphia to transport the defendant back to Perkasie, where he was arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Regina Armitage.

A preliminary hearing on the Philadelphia case is scheduled for Sept. 6 at 8 a.m. before Philadelphia Magisterial Judge Gregory O. Yorgey-Girdy.

A preliminary hearing on the Perkasie arrest is scheduled for Oct. 1 at 1:15 p.m. before Armitage.
