Man jailed on 10% of $900K bail on child sex assault accusation

 A Warrington Township man remains incarcerated at Bucks County Correctional Facility on 10% of $900,000 cash bail, following arraignment last month on felony sexual offenses against a 9-year-old victim.

Jose Armando Mestanza Ortiz, 46, will face Magisterial District Judge Stacy Wertman on Aug. 26 at 9 a.m. at a preliminary hearing on charges of felony unlawful contact with a minor-sexual offenses, misdemeanor indecent assault on a person less than 13, and misdemeanor corruption of minors, according to court documents.

On July 27, 2024, Warrington Township Police responded to the 2200 block of Pileggi Road for a report of an indecent sexual assault on a minor, police said. An investigation uncovered that Mestanza Ortiz was temporarily staying at the home of a friend when the alleged assault occurred.

A warrant was issued for Mestanza Ortiz’s arrest and served on Aug. 9, where he was taken into custody, police said.
