  • Things To Do

Grab your wands and broomsticks and head over to the Mercer Museum and Fonthill Castle on Thursday at 8:15 p.m. for an outdoor showing, courtesy of County Theater, of “Harry Potter & The Chamber of Secrets” as part of the “Movies at the Mercer.” Tickets are available at countytheater.org/outdoor. Make a picnic out of it, as the ticket stub gets you 10% off at Jules Pizza. Gates open at 7:15 p.m. and the movie begins around dusk. County Theater staff will be on hand at the check-in table.

Grab a chair and head over to C&N Amphitheater in Doylestown on Wednesday night at 7 and relax-ax-ax-ax-ax-ax-ax to the sounds of Billy Joel tribute band River of Dreams. The free concert is part of the Thompson Performing Arts Series at Central Park, 425 Wells Road, Doylestown Township, and will have a beer garden with Warwick Farm Brewing. Parking at Central Park has been significantly reduced due to due the park improvement construction project including the Community Recreation Center, Court complex and parking expansion/realignment. When coming into Central Park from the main Wells Road Entrance (one-way road) parking is available in the lots adjacent to the Amphitheater and near the exit of the park exit. Additional parking is available at the New Britain Rd. entrance to Central Park with trail connections throughout the park and to park amenities. Parking is limited and carpooling, public transit or Uber or Lyft is recommended. Parking is available at Kutz Elementary School.

While the first day of school remains weeks away, keep the kids busy with a free summer show at Burpee Park on Church Street in Doylestown Borough Wednesday morning at 9:30. Come sing, dance and play with “Lolly Hopwood and Friends” during the interactive musical event. No tickets required.

Or, get the kids exercising by taking part in the Sandyard Beach Volleyball Skills and Drills Middle School event at George M. Bush Park, 3868 Burnt House Hill Road, Doylestown, on Wednesday night from 5 to 6:30. Athletic youth who are 12U players and 14U players should have previous volleyball experience or prior team experience. Register for the event here.

If you are feeling mysterious – and nostalgic – Cock ‘n Bull Restaurant at Peddler’s Village hosts an “I Love the 80s to Death: Murder Mystery Dinner” on Friday from 7 to 9:30 p.m. Put on some 80s garb, muster your best murder-solving skills, and join us for a rollicking, interactive mystery party! Step back into the decade of big hair, leg warmers, Members Only jackets, and some of the best top-40 tunes ever to hit the airwaves. Here’s the situation: Big-name musicians are gathering for a big concert, but backstage tensions are high. Secrets are spilling out with, like, totally tragic results. This isn’t a TV episode of Miami Vice. It’s, really, like…murder. Tickets and more information is available here.
