A woman with a history of retail theft convictions has been charged with felony retail theft and felony receiving stolen property after police said she tried to flee the scene after stealing from Wegmans.

Warrington Township Police responded July 29 to Wegmans at 1405 Main Street for a report of a retail theft.

Loss prevention told police that a woman, identified as Marguerite Wetzel, 70, of Glenside, selected $138.12 worth of seafood and other merchandise, and then exited the store without paying, police said.

Wetzel was confronted by loss prevention, where she gave up the merchandise and fled the scene, police said.

An officer found Wetzel’s car in traffic and stopped her vehicle, police said. She was placed under arrest and taken to Warrington Township Police for processing, per the report

All suspects and defendants are innocent until proven guilty. This story was compiled using public court records.
