Chapman Road Bridge closed indefinitely Friday

PennDOT required the bridge closure, police said.

 According to Doylestown Township, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation required the immediate closure of the Chapman Road Bridge Friday afternoon for an indefinite period of time.

A news alert was sent out by Doylestown Township Police that PennDOT required temporary closure of the bridge and will reopen after further evaluation.

A representative at Doylestown Township said PennDOT did not expand upon why the need for an immediate closure, but confirmed that the bridge has been on a maintenance list for some time and it is expected that the project to address issues with the bridge has been moved up.
